What is Chiropractic?

CIMG_9858hiropractic is a natural hands on approach to health care, that focuses on how the spine and the nervous system work together.  The nervous system which consists of the brain, the spinal cord and thousands of nerves regulates everything from your muscles, immune system, breathing, digestion and hormonal systems. Any misalignment or subluxation in your spine can disrupt the communication between your brain and the rest of your body. Chiropractic safely and effectively corrects these misalignment’s through a series of adjustments, which allows your body to function as it was designed

What is a Subluxation?

A subluxation occurs when any one of the 24 spinal vertebrae or the sacrum are out of their natural alignment or not moving in the correct way. This causes the nerves to become stretched or “pinched”. This blocks the communication between the brain and other parts of your body, and if not corrected subluxations will cause pain and failure in one or more parts of the body. Chiropractors specialize in the detection and correction of subluxations.

There are 3 causes for subluxations: physical, chemical, and emotional stresses. Physical stress can include falls, injuries, auto accidents etc. Chemical stress comes from diet habits, smoking and any medications that are taken. Emotional stress can include any stress from work, family or school. Any one or all three of these stresses cause subluxations and have an effect on  your health.

What is an Adjustment?

An adjustment corrects the subluxation described above by restoring proper motion and position of the vertebrae. Dr. Mike tailors each individual adjustment to your specific needs based on your condition, severity and age to make sure you receive the best treatment.
